The Lords Day is Just another Day....?

Selfie on the way to church. I'm loving my new glasses

This question of Why is the Lords day (Sunday) to be treated differently than every other day has been rattling around my mind for a couple of weeks now.

So I have done my best to compile my thoughts and feeling about it and share with y'all.

In the Book of Hebrews from the New Testament it talks about the reasons we have a Sabath day. Hebrews 4:4 states "...God did rest on the seventh day from all his labors."
God is all powerful he certainly doesn't Need to rest now does he???
Well, there are actually several places through scripture that teach us the importance of taking a day to rest from our Everyday Cares and Labors. Which makes me ponder just exactly Why that is suggested (counseled).
When I was young I used to think it was a day of Church, Naps and Fun with the family. I didn't understand that it was a day set aside by the Lord for us to Rest.
Rest? Like sleep in,mor take a lazy afternoon nap???
Not exactly, the older I've gotten and more I've been around the block, the more ice learned our Bodies, Minds, and Sprits NEED a day of Rejuvenation, a day that we can slow life down, focus on the things of the Lord, spend time with our family attending church, serving eachother (or others) a day that we don't spend busy at the lake, or movie theater.
But take time to allow the Lord to strengthen us, whisper knowledge or answer to our prayers into our hearts and minds. Allow our Minds to focus on scripture and ways we can more closely Emulate our Savior Jesus Christ. A day that we can Pray a bit more fervently perhaps for those in Need, or give a prayer of Thanksgiving for the many blessing and opportunities that have been present in our lives recently.
God knows Us,mhe created us, we are part Him (as he is our Father) he Knows that the Burdens, and. Cares of the world weigh heavy on our hearts, minds and shoulders by the end of the week and that we Must take the time to Turn our Burdens over to Our Savior, so that we might start a new each week.
The more I Age I am indeed Grateful for a Day of Rest, and I Look Forward to it each week. On this Day I am able to partake of the Sacrament, be Forgiven, and Renew my covenants with my Father in Heaven. I am able to Rub shoulders with others striving to be like Jesus, and I am able to Better Power through a New week with a Resolve to be a bit better, stronger, kinder, and more patient than I was the previous week.

If you do Not currently use this as a day of Rest, may I suggest you put his(Heavenly Fathers) counsel to the test, and just see how it can Bless your life too.

Thank you so much for reading, if you enjoyed this please share it with others who may also benefit from its words.
